FIFE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015 RESULTS

After a day of torrential rain, flooded greens then hot sunshine we eventually completed our semi-finals and finals of the Championship Scratch and Handicap. We started the day at 10am and eventually finished around 7.30pm

Just have to mention that this is the inaugural Handicap Championship which was eagerly contested for.
 
Great semi's and finals Ladies and many thanks for your co-operation in finishing your games despite all the disruption during both these rounds.

Handicap Semi-Finals:
Liz Howie - Dunfermline beat Margaret Kilpatrick - Dunnikier Park 3 & 2
Shirley Fleming - Thornton beat Sue Horne - Thornton 2 up

Scratch Semi-Finals:
Brogan Clark - Lochgelly beat Elaine Moffat - St Regulus 5 & 4
Dianne Watson - Leven Golfing Society beat Linda Dyball - Pitreavie 3 & 2

Handicap Final:
Shirley Fleming beat Liz Howie 1 up

Scratch Final:
Dianne Watson beat Brogan Clark 2 up

Special thanks go to Stan Linsday, club captain who refereed the scratch final whilst also acting as chief squeegee-er, way to go Stan. Stan also presented the Scratch finalist with the trophies.

Special thanks also go to Vicky MaCallum, who refereed the Handicap Final.

Thanks also to Linda Boag, Pitreavie Golf Club Ladies Captain who presented the Handicap Championship Trophy.

Our sincere thanks go to all at Pitreavie Golf Club for re-scheduling our event and also for all the help on the day in getting the course playable again after the rain delay.  You certainly have done us proud.

Just a wee reminder that the Championship Semi Finals & Finals will be held at Pitreavie Golf Club on Saturday 25th July - yes this Saturday coming.

Death of Honorary Member

It is with regret that we announce the death of one of Fife County's Honorary Members.
Betty Stott, who turned 100 in March has passed away.  Betty's funeral was held on Wednesday 15th July.
Condolences and our thoughts are with Betty's family.

SCOTTISH VETS JAMBOREE 2015

Congratulations to Lorna Bennett and Lorna McKinlay who have been chosen as part of the Scottish Vets Team to play in the Vets Jamboree to be held at Sherwood Forest Golf Club, Mansfield.
The Jamboree takes place from Tuesday 4th August - Thurs 6th August inclusive. 

The draw for these matches is as follows:

Wednesday 5th:  Midland v South, Scotland v North

SCOTTISH GIRLS (CLOSE) AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

Fife County have 8 Junior Girls playing in the Scottish Girls (Close) Amateur Championship at Alyth Golf Club from 14th - 16th July.

EAST OF SCOTLAND GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

The East of Scotland Girls Championship took place at Aberdour Golf Club on Monday 6th & Tuesday 7th July. 
Fife County had 4 girls taking part in this competition for the first time.  Brogan Clark - Lochgelly Golf Club, Eilidh Henderson - Kirkcaldy Golf Club, Charlene Wilson - St Regulus Golf Club and Jenna Downie - Kirkcaldy Golf Club.

Huge Congratulations to all the girls who took part in this Championship and well done to Brogan on winning the Stephen Gallacher Trophy for the best scratch score of 76.

COMMONWEALTH SPOONS RESULTS 2015

Commonwealth Spoons Results 2015

27 pairs played in the Commonwealth Spoons at Elmwood on Thursday 2nd July.  The morning players stayed dry and only a small amount of rain fell on the evening players. It was certainly warmer than recently.
Three pairs go forward to the final at Bothwell Castle Golf Course on Thursday 3rd September and the best scores were:

1st:     Mary Malcolm & Aileen Penny (Balbirnie)                           77 - 7 =  70
 
2nd:   Irene Murray &  Irene Collins. (Elie)                                     86 - 14.5  = 71.5
 
3rd:    Fiona Hastie &  Susan Jackson ( St Regulus, Ladybank)   71 + 1.5  = 72.5
 
4th:    Aileen Lang  &  Shona Peebles  (Ladybank)                          92 - 19 = 73

UPDATE FROM POWFOOT - SCOTTISH SENIOR LADIES' CLOSE CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

Update from Powfoot.
Sorry, it's a bit late but internet connection down there not great, and just got home lastnight.
Anyway it is with regret that I report that neither any of the 3 of us (myself, Linda Dyball or Christine Steedman) managed to win our first round match-play games....gutted.....bring on 2016!!!!!
Anyway, a good few days was had by all and the weather was in our favour, thankfully.

Congratulations goes to Martine Pow who was the overall winner, Sheena beating Wood 3 & 2 in the final.

Scottish Seniors Ladies' (Close) Amateur Championship 2015

Update from Powfoot Golf Club where the Scottish Seniors Ladies' Amateur Championship is being held this week.
Lorna McKinlay (3rd qualifier) & Linda Dyball (11th qualifier) have both qualified for the Scratch Championship & Christine Steedman (6th qualifier in handicap) has qualified for the Handicap Championship.  Match-play rounds start Thursday morning.
Lorna Bennett lost out on 16th place after a play-off with Kathleen Sutherland.  Kathleen had a birdie 3 to Lorna's par 4.

The weather so far has been very good, albeit a bit hot & clammy but dry an windless, let's hope it stays dry for the rest of the championship.
